Daily Grace

Grace is given not because of we have done a good job but in order for us to get it we need to work for it.
Grace continues to allow God’s spirit to transform us.
Grace is needed to remain people in their right way of living their lives.
Grace i doesnt mean it's a licence to sin but Grace is given so that we might have power and choose not to sin (Grace is empowerment for us to say ‘No’ to sin and not just forgive our sins.)

John 1:17-for the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (Grace and truth always come together.)

There are 3 Graces taught by Pastor today:

1.Grace for speech
Proverbs 22:11-he who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend. (Characteristics of a wise king to his friends)
References
Ecclesiastes 10:12- words from a wise man’s mouth are gracious, but a fool is consumed by his own lips.
Proverbs 22:29- do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.
Proverbs 24:4- through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. (Wisdom promises to bestow wealth on those who love her.)
Colossians 4:6- let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. (Christians’ conversation is to be wholesome.)
References
Colossians 3:8-but now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Ephesians 4:29-do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.(Christians are not only stop saying unwholesome things; they also begin to say things that will help build others up.)
1 Corinthians 14:3- but everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.

Grace to say “No”
Titus 2:11-14-
11 for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. (right conduct must be founded on right doctrine. The undeserved love God showed us in Christ while we were still sinners and his enemies and by which we are saved apart from any moral achievements or religious acts on our part. But this same grace instructs us that our salvation should produce good works.)
12 it teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, (the word ‘teaches ‘ includes a process of training a child- instruction, encouragement, correction and discipline)
13 while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
14who gave himself for us to redeem from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own eager to do what is good.( salvation involves the double work of redeeming us from guilt and judgment and of producing moral purity and helpful service to others)

Grace to overcome
2 Corinthians 9:8-and God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will be abound in every good work.( through his abounding grace, God can enable each Christians to abound in generous deeds)
References
2 Corinthians 9:11- you will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10-
7-to keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
8- Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
9- But he said to me: “my grace is sufficient for you; my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (Human weakness provides the ideal opportunity for the display of divine power.)
10-that is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (Classic example of power in weakness is the cross of Christ.)
Reference
Philippians 4:13- I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Hebrews 4:15-16
15- for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet was without sin.(Stresses the parallel between Christ’s temptations and ours. He did not have each temptation that we have but experienced the whole range of our temptations. The way in which Christ’s temptations were different from ours was in the results-his temptations never led to sin.)
16- let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Because Christ our high priest has experienced human temptation, he stands ready to give immediate and sympathetic help when we are tempted.)
